First Day of Homeschool

Today marks our first official day of homeschooling.
You are probably wondering why we would begin in the middle of summer, but there is a simple answer to this: I need to begin now so that I can take time off when the baby is born.  We are doing five extra weeks this summer, so that homeschool can be very simple come November and December.
We plan to homeschool year round, with a few breaks in between, but need to make sure we get in the required number of days, regardless.
Today went well, with the exception of the younger children disrupting and making huge messes.  This is something I need to work on and manage.  I was able to include the younger two in a history reading and drawing time.  I know I’ll figure this out in time, but I am pleased that David and Grace enjoyed the day and did well.

At the end of August, we will begin Classical Conversations.

Whoohoooo!!!! We haven’t stopped yet. As soon as Gabriel is born, we’ll take a little break before re-setting for our “new year”. Looking forward to hearing how this goes as you begin your journey.

Great to see you’re off to a good start : )

I’ve heard that some parents have good luck with having their beginning readers read to the little ones for the reading lesson. I suppose depends very much on the kids involved, tho.

We’re going thru the summer, too (tho we did take a LONG break for vacation)
